The Winchester-Yei Partnership was developed in 2010 initially between the former Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust and Yei Civil Hospital in South Sudan. It works closely with The Brickworks and includes as partners, the Martha Primary Health Care Centre and the Yei National Health Training Institute. Its aim has been to help improve local health and healthcare in Yei and the surrounding area through training programmes delivered by UK staff to front-line health professionals in Yei.
Since 2016 civil war has made it too dangerous to visit Yei and the Covid outbreak has created further challenges. However, support through education and teaching is still provided remotely to staff who have moved to Kajo Keji Health Institute.
A review visit is taking place in the Autumn of 2022 to assess the situation and decide on future arrangements.
